Porn Nation

This Tuesday on Nov 9th at 8 p.m. USF introduced a man named Micheal Leahy. Who is he? To be honest throughout the whole presentation. I Yawneddddddd!!! This man yes he is a recovering sex addict but his speech was based on the foundation of a self-centered asshole.

As a speaker, he did captivate his audience with the definition of pornography which I found rather interesting. The definition of pornography is any object or material that sexually stimulates someone. Well he showed a few videos - mainly of women- kissing etc. He said that images that are seen in Real World, True Blood, Sopranos is a way of pornography. My reaction was like Oh Shit!.

His presentation was based on multimedia for about 90 minutes. I don't think you need that much multimedia for that long if you can't speak right. End of Story. The presentation consisted of short video messages and Micheal talking about his addiction to pornography. I do agree with pornography being exposed to pre-teens and teenagers at early age due to the internet, media and word of mouth. I know I was exposed to real world when I was 13. I don't think society is to blame on this or parents. I think people should be allowed to explore but with guidance. Micheal also mentioned that since he had ADHD that correlates to sex addiction. I'm like dude!! Overall, no one missed out of anything. It was a waste of time.

Bisexuality

Bisexuality may be a difficult topic to comprehend. Many of us are taught to look at almost everything in the universe as a duality: male and female, light and dark, hot an cold, moral and immoral, etc. This is also seen with human sexual orientation. Most view it as existing in two forms: heterosexuality and homosexuality. But human sexuality is a little more complex than that. One cannot squeeze the full range of human sexual feelings and behaviors into only two classifications. A minimum of three is really needed to represent human sexual attractions and activities: heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual. Some have suggested a minimum of five.

Most people use the term "sexual orientation" to refer to sexual feelings. Heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual is a part of what people are. Thus, bisexuality is sexual orientation in which an individual feels sexual attraction towards both men and women, although not necessarily to the same degree. This is the meaning given to bisexuality by most mental health professionals, religious liberals, secularists, and persons of minority sexual orientations

Some persons who are sexually attracted to both men and women feel more strongly attracted to one gender than the other. Further, they may identify themselves as homosexual or heterosexual, depending upon their prime attraction. So, a bisexual who feels more attracted to members of the same sex might identify themselves as gay or lesbian rather than bisexual. Others, attracted to members of the opposite sex might view themselves as heterosexual.

Don't judge. You would be surprised who is and who isn't.

Sex Addiction

The term "sexual addiction" is used to describe the behavior of a person who has an unusually intense sex drive or an obsession with sex. Sex and the thought of sex tend to dominate the sex addict's thinking, making it difficult to work or engage in healthy personal relationships.

Sex addicts engage in distorted thinking, often rationalizing and justifying their behavior and blaming others for problems. They generally deny they have a problem and make excuses for their actions.

Sexual addiction also is associated with risk-taking. A person with a sex addiction engages in various forms of sexual activity, despite the potential for negative and/or dangerous consequences. In addition to damaging the addict's relationships and interfering with his or her work and social life, a sexual addiction also puts the person at risk for emotional and physical injury.

For some people, the sex addiction progresses to involve illegal activities, such as exhibitionism (exposing oneself in public), making obscene phone calls, or molestation. However, it should be noted that sex addicts do not necessarily become sex offenders.

Behaviors associated with sexual addiction include:

1. Compulsive masturbation (self-stimulation)

2. Multiple affairs (extra-marital affairs)

3. Multiple or anonymous sexual partners and/or one-night stands

4.Consistent use of pornography

5.Unsafe sex

6.Phone or computer sex (cybersex)

7.Prostitution or use of prostitutes

8.Exhibitionism

9.Obsessive dating through personal ads

10.Voyeurism (watching others) and/or stalking

11.Sexual harassment

12.Molestation/rape

Generally, a person with a sex addiction gains little satisfaction from the sexual activity and forms no emotional bond with his or her sex partners. In addition, the problem of sex addiction often leads to feelings of guilt and shame. A sex addict also feels a lack of control over the behavior, despite negative consequences (financial, health, social, and emotional).

This post is a little morbid but if you feel that you are or know someone. Get them help. This is one of the main causes people rape. And we don't want anyone going through that!

Sesame Street and the Debate Over LGBT Characters on Children's Television

Leave it to Twitter and Facebook to create a firestorm of commentary after Bert of the famed Bert and Ernie duo from Sesame Street tweeted that his hair is more “mo” than “hawk.” The tweet was immediately read as a long-awaited, though encoded, coming out for the seemingly gay PBS puppet.

For those unfamiliar, “mo” is gay slang for “homosexual,” and the reaction to Bert’s was fast and furious. One of those commenting the most was Elton writer Ed Kennedy, who wrote a post back in June further outing Bert and suggesting that the tweet was a clever ploy by producers to give a hat tip to gay pride.

But who is it to blame for their initial excitement at the possibility that a responsible and respected outlet would finally include gay characters on a children’s show? Haven’t we all peeked under the carpet in search of all things gay in the myriad images growing up, all of which disappointed us time and again with straight portrayals?

Plus, anyone who ever watched that episode of Sesame Street a la “The Gift of the Magi,” can’t deny that the ultimate act of sacrifice and tenderness between Bert and Ernie has the emotional brevity of a couple in love. If you’re not familiar with the tale, Bert sold his paper clip collection so he could afford to buy a soap dish for Ernie’s rubber ducky, while Ernie sold his rubber ducky to afford to buy a cigar box for Bert’s paper clip collection. Truly heartbreaking and meaningful ... even if it makes one wonder how much rent costs on Sesame Street that Bert and Ernie couldn’t afford simple pleasures and modest gifts.

Perhaps if Bert and Ernie did come out of the closet it would be too cliché. And maybe then we’d complain about how their relationship was just another example of the desexualization of LGBTQ characters on TV. After all, don’t Bert and Ernie sleep in separate beds in the same room? It would be Will & Grace, muppet-style.

I believe that people should have the right to marry or love anyone that they choose. Some people don't care about the issue, some believe its sinful and others support it. But ask yourself this question: Would my lifestyle change if I saw a gay married couple? I happen to think not.

Transgender, Transexual and Intersexed :-O

What's a Transgender?

Transgender is the state of one's "gender identity" (self-identification as woman, man, neither or both) not matching one's "assigned sex" (identification by others as male, female or intersex based on physical/genetic sex). Transgender does not imply any specific form of sexual orientation; transgender people may identify as heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual, polysexual, or asexual; some may consider conventional sexual orientation labels inadequate or inapplicable to them.

While people self-identify as transgender, transgender identity includes many overlapping categories. These include cross-dresser, transvestite, androgynes, genderqueer; people who live cross-gender, drag kings and drag queens; and, frequently, transsexual. Usually not included are transvestic fetishists (because it is considered to be a paraphilia rather than gender identification). In an interview, artist RuPaul talked about society's ambivalence to the differences in the people who embody these terms. "A friend of mine recently did the Oprah show about transgender youth," said RuPaul. "It was obvious that we, as a culture, have a hard time trying to understand the difference between a drag queen, transsexual, and a transgender, yet we find it very easy to know the difference between the American baseball league and the National baseball league, when they are both so similar.

What is a Transexual?

Transsexualism is when an individual identifies with a gender that is different from their biological sex. A medical diagnosis can be made if a person experiences discomfort as a result of a desire to be a member of the opposite sex, or if a person experiences impaired functioning or distress as a result of that gender identification. Transsexualism is stigmatized in many parts of the world but has become more widely known in Western culture in the mid to late 20th century, concurrently with the sexual revolution and the development of sex reassignment surgery.

The word "transsexual" is most often used as an adjective rather than a noun – a "transexual person" rather than simply "a transexual". Transsexual people prefer to be referred to by the gender pronouns and terms associated with their target gender. For example, a transsexual man is a person who was assigned the female sex at birth on the basis of his genitals, but despite that assignment identifies as a man and is transitioning or has transitioned to a male gender role and has or will have a masculine body. Transsexual people are sometimes referred to with "assigned-to-target" sex terms such as "female-to-male" for a transsexual man or "male-to-female" for a transsexual woman.

What is intersexed?

Intersex in humans refers to intermediate or atypical combinations of physical features that usually distinguish female from male. This is usually understood to be congenital, involving chromosomal, morphologic, genital and/or gonadal anomalies, such as diversion from typical XX-female or XY-male presentations; sex reversal (XY-female, XX-male), genital ambiguity, sex developmental differences. An intersex individual may have biological characteristics of both the male and the female sexes.

Some people (whether physically intersex or not) do not identify themselves as either exclusively female or exclusively male. Androgyny is sometimes used to refer to those without gender-specific physical sexual characteristics or sexual preferences or gender identity, or some combination of these. This state may or may not include a mixture or absence of sexual preferences

Methods of Contraception

What is Contraception?

Contraception is birth control by the use of devices (diaphragm or intrauterine device or condom) or drugs or surgery. The principle of contraception is to prevent the union of a sperm and a egg cells.

Your choice of a contraceptive method depends on several factors such as efficacy, safety, personal preference, cost and noncontraceptive benefits. The methods are divided into two categories: hormonal contraceptives and nonhormonal contraceptives.

Hormonal Contraceptives

Oral contraceptives contain synthetic hormones and there are two types, combination pills and progestin-only pills. Combination pills contain both estrogen and progestin and mainly work by preventing the ovaries from releasing eggs (ovulation) and by making the lining of the uterus thinner. They also thicken the cervical mucus, which helps to prevent the entry of sperm into the uterus. Progestin-only pills primarily work by thickening the cervical mucus and less often they prevent ovulation. Taking birth control pills daily maintains the level of hormones that is needed to prevent pregnancy.

The NuvaRing is a small, flexible ring that is inserted into the vagina once a month. The ring releases a low-dose combination of progestin and estrogen to provide month long contraception. The hormones prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg (ovulation) and the progestin thickens the cervical mucus, which helps to prevent the entry of sperm into the uterus. The NuvaRing can be removed for up to 3 hours but if it has been out for more than 3 hours, it should be reinserted and a backup method (such as condoms) should be used until ring has been in for 7 consecutive days.

The IUD is a small T-shaped plastic device. Two types of IUDs are now available in the U.S. The ParaGard IUD contains copper and can be left in place for up to 12 years and the Mirena IUD contains the hormone progestin and can be left in place for up to 5 years. The IUD appears to work primarily by preventing fertilization of the egg. IUDs seem to affect the way the sperm or egg move. The progestin in the Mirena also thickens the cervical mucus. The copper in the ParaGard impairs sperm function.
A health care provider inserts the IUD in the office. Usually there is some cramping with insertion. This method is completely reversible at any time and it is effective immediately after insertion.

The Ortho Evra Patch is a combined estrogen/progestin adhesive patch worn on the skin. The patch is placed in one of four locations-buttocks, abdomen, upper torso or upper outer arm once a week for three weeks in a row, followed by a 7-day patch free week. The combination of hormones works by keeping the ovaries from releasing an egg (ovulation) and less often by thickening the cervical mucus, which prevents the sperm entering the uterus.

Non Hormonal Methods

The condom, or rubber, is a latex, polyurethane, poluisophrene or natural skin sheath that covers the erect penis and catches semen before it enters the vagina. All kinds of condoms are effective contraceptives. Only latex, polyisophrene or polyurethane condoms, however, can help to prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted infections. Some people consider it inconvenient to have to interrupt lovemaking to put on a condom before intercourse. Breaking off sexual pleasuring to put on a condom is not necessary, however. Putting on a condom can be incorporated into a couple's sexual activities.

The female condom is a soft, loosely-fitting polyurethane sheath with two flexible polyurethane rings designed to hold the condom in place. One ring at the closed end is inserted into the upper end of the vagina (past the pubic bone) and around the cervix. The second ring forms the external outer edge of the device and remains outside the vagina after insertion. In this way, the outer ring and device material provide some protection to the woman's labia and the base of a male partner's penis. The sheath is coated on the inside with a silicone-based lubricant and additional lubricant is provided with the product. The female condom may be inserted up to 8 hours before intercourse, and should be removed shortly after intercourse and before standing up. It should only be used once.

The withdrawal method of birth control, also known as coitus interruptus, involves the man withdrawing his penis from the vagina before ejaculation. In theory, this prevents sperm from being deposited in the vagina and subsequently fertilizing an ovum. Typically, a couple has penile-vaginal intercourse until the man withdraws his penis from the vagina when ejaculation is impending. The man must rely on his own sense of forthcoming ejaculation in order to practice this method. While some men do have ejaculatory control, others do not which can lead to not practicing this method consistently. Even though ejaculation may not occur in the vagina the release of pre-ejaculate which is typically released just before ejaculation goes unnoticed by the man and the woman. Pre-ejaculate is unlikely to release viable sperm for a single act of intercourse, but may contain STI.

Sex in various cultures

India

India played a significant role in the history of sex, from writing one of the first literature that treated sexual intercourse as a science, to in modern times being the origin of the philosophical focus of new-age groups' attitudes on sex. It may be argued that India pioneered the use of sexual education through art and literature. As in many societies, there was a difference in sexual practices in India between common people and powerful rulers, with people in power often indulging in hedonistic lifestyles that were not representative of common moral attitudes.

The most publicly known sexual literature of India are the texts of the Kama Sutra. These texts were written for and kept by the philosopher, warrior and nobility castes, their servants and concubines, and those in certain religious orders. These were people that could also read and write and had instruction and education. The sixty four arts of love-passion-pleasure began in India. There are many different versions of the arts which began in Sanskrit and were translated into other languages, such as Persian or Tibetan. Many of the original texts are missing and the only clue to their existence is in other texts.

When the Islamic and Victorian English culture arrived in India, they generally had an adverse impact on sexual liberalism in India. Within the context of the Indian religions, or dharmas, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism, sex is generally either seen as a moral duty of each partner in a long term marriage relationship to the other, or is seen as a desire which hinders spiritual detachment, and so must be renounced.

Mesopotamia

Matriarchy was practiced in the earlier period of Mesopotamian civilization. The Mesopotamian society practiced sexual openness. In ancient Mesopotamia, Ishtar was the primary Goddess of life, men and women, nature and fertility, sex, sexual power and birth. Ishtar was also the goddess of war and weapons and any victory was celebrated in her temples with offerings of produce and money as well as through a feast and orgy of sex and fornication with holy temple prostitutes. Every woman was required, at least once in her lifetime, usually after she was married, to go to the Temple of Ishtar. She waited there till any stranger came and threw silver in her lap. Then she left the temple and had sex with the stranger, after which she could return home. She was not allowed to refuse the first stranger.

China

China has had a long history of sexism, with even moral leaders such as Confucius giving extremely pejorative accounts of the innate characteristics of women. From early times, the virginity of women was rigidly enforced by family and community and linked to the monetary value of women as a kind of commodity (the "sale" of women involving the delivery of a bride price). Men were protected in their own sexual adventures by a transparent double standard. While the first wife of a man with any kind of social status in traditional society was almost certainly chosen for him by his father and/or grandfather, the same man might later secure for himself more desirable sexual partners with the status of concubines. In addition, bondservants in his possession could also be sexually available to him. Naturally, not all men had the financial resources to so greatly indulge themselves.

Sex positions

My Mind is telling NO!! But my BODY IS TELLING ME YES!!!!

As I stated before the act of sex which is intercourse. People have different reasons on why they choose or not have sex. If you are sexually active or are going to, remember to always use protection or other method. By the way THE PULL-OUT-METHOD isn't as effective. To be honest, you have to be a "Pro" meaning good at having sex in order to do that. If your a virgin and your starting out at having sex and your doing the Pull-out-method take plan B.

Now, Looking for some variety to help transform that "same-old, same-old" night of lust into one of fire and passion? No matter how good we are at what we do, even the best performance can get a bit boring without the occasional injection of fresh ideas! Whether you are an athlete who wants to swing from the chandelier, or just someone looking for an easy alternative, you will find something here to fit the bill ... come on and take a look - I promise you won't be disappointed!!

69 Family

The old saying goes, its better to give then it is to receive... but when it comes to sex, we find it best to give and receive at the same time! The 69 family of sex positions consists of those alignments where two sexual partners perform oral sex on each other simultaneously. We all know how 69 looks like.

Butterfly Family

Although we aren't really sure where the name Butterfly comes from exactly, we do know that this family of sex positions allows for some of the deepest penetration available... while leaving the receiving partner fully accessible for some added manual stimulation. Studies have shown that deeper the penetration is arouses the clitoris more.

Cowgirl Family

or those who like to be in control, the cowgirl family of sex positions puts you in the right position... on top. Make sure to try out as many as you feel comfortable trying to figure out which feels the best! This happens to be one of my top families. Guys do like a girl being in control!

Cunnilingus Family

Known by many names; going down, eating out, clam chowder, and carpet munching to name a few, the art of cunnilingus is best known for an important skill to master if you want to keep your woman satisfied... and generally speaking, a satisfied woman is a faithful one! Ladies and Guys please your woman. Give and then you will be blessed. I would show a picture however this is too vulgar. But we all know how it looks like. If not, watch porn.

Exotic Family

If the usual bump and grind is starting to lose its thrill, then its time to move up to the exotic sex positions family... Be warned; some of the exotic positions require a substantial amount of physical strength and endurance... make sure not to overdue it, and not to attempt positions outside of your physical capabilities. If you are flexible and energetic get on that!!!

Face to Face Family

The Face to Face sex positions family consists of positions that are kissing and necking friendly. Due to the intimacy and how well they work on beds and couches, they are some of the more commonly used positions for most couples. This would be an example of missionary the good old classic one :-)

Fellatio Family

The old saying used to go; the way to a man's heart is through his stomach... A pretty good tip if you have years to master the art of cooking. For those who are looking for a shortcut, or plan on launching a two pronged attack for their man, learning the fellatio family of sex positions is key for making your hard work memorable... This is my favorite one!! Girls: You rock is world next day you don't walk!! Better to try than not ever!!! Some people choose to not use flavored condoms I recommend highly. I'm sure there are people out there that do not like come in their mouth. Just saying.

Rear Entry Family

The Rear Entry family positions is a new. Formed by merging the old Doggy-style and Spooning Families. These positions incredibly comfortable for both partners, the angle of the penetration is nearly perfect for hitting the g-spot or prostate gland, and the receiving partner's genitalia is usually easy to access by either partner. These positions are very effective!!

If you are sexually active or are planning or abstinent remember: Use protection, question partner of Sex Partner's history and GET TESTED!! We rather know it than harm others.

Sexual Health Desicion Making

Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Wonder of Blogging!! I'm flattered that some of you have chosen to follow my blog post. For those who don't know me; I am a volunteer Peer REACH Educator for USF Wellness. As a Peer REACH Educator, I'm responsible to aware other students on the subjects of: Sex, Drugs or Alcohol. Let's face it there is a lot of myths on those subjects for instance; SIZE MATTERS!! NO IT DOESN'T PEOPLE!! There is no correlation between hands or feet to Penis size.

What is sex?

Sex. When people hear that word, they automatically assume the act of sex or intercourse. Sex isn't just the act its biological and gender. Sex is the foundation of one's genetics that make you a boy or a girl or inter-sexed. Gender is quite difficult to understand. Gender is the way one was brought up. I am a female. Gender is difficult to understand because as one may now, some civilians don't identify with their gender. Someone can be by nature a female but may identify as a male. I know this sounds confusing at first but it gets better.

How Does Sex play in our Society?

Sex, is important in our culture. Without some knowledge of it your parents wouldn't have ever made you. Most people experiment with a range of sexual activities during their lives, though they tend to engage in only a few of these regularly. Most people enjoy some sexual activities. Some people enjoy many different sexual activities, while others avoid sexual activities altogether for religious or other reasons (chastity, sexual abstinence, asexuality). Some prefer monogamous relationships for sex, and others may prefer many different partners throughout their lives.

Why do we have sex?

People engage in sexual activity for any of a multitude of possible reasons.

Most people engage in sexual activity because of the sexual pleasure they derive from the activity, most commonly through orgasm. Erotic pleasure can also be experienced during foreplay and from flirting, and from fetish or BDSM (Bondage and Principles, sadism and Masochism) activities. The most common pleasurable sexual activities are sexual intercourse (including foreplay) and masturbation.

Most commonly, people engage in sexual activity with a person to whom they are sexually attracted; but at times, a person may engage in a sexual activity solely for the sexual pleasure of the partner, such as because of an obligation they may have to the partner or because of sympathy or pity they may feel for the partner.

Also, a person may engage in sexual activity for purely monetary considerations, or to obtain some advantage from either the partner or the activity. Furthermore, a man and woman may engage in sexual intercourse with the objective of conception. Some people engage in hate sex, which occurs between two people who strongly dislike or annoy each other. It is related to the idea that opposition between two people can heighten sexual tension, attraction and interest.

What's to come?

I hope all of you have had a taste of what my future blogs are going to be. You might learn new facts and share it. Don't be hesitant to tell me in class what a good topic on "Sex" should I discuss.

Remember: DON'T BE SILLY WRAP YOUR WILLY!!

Do I want something?

"Every act you have ever performed since the day you were born was performed because you wanted something‟ [ANDREW CARNEGIE]

Being the second and only girl in the family gave me a sense of privilege. I was a spoiled brat as I grew up but then as I started getting older I became mature and accomplished task in order to get what I want.

When I was younger, I would do devious task. I was called a Habladora- meaning whatever I heard from adult conversations I would repeat them. And when the adults would tell me not to say it I would say it and in return to keep quiet I would get a toy. Much times have changed and I've learned the hard way to keep my mouth shut and be respectful of others.

I know myself if I do something that's because I want something in return. I can be extremely OCD if my dorm room isn't clean. And I pester my roommate to clean her side that way our room looks spotless. I am outspoken, I say what is on my mind in other words blunt. I don't care what people think of my bluntness. If I want something I work hard for it.

My academics are most important to me and I don't care pulling all-nighters just to get the grade I deserve. I don't settle for B+ I want A+ I strive for the best possible. I want to achieve it because I know I can. I like to get good grades because I work hard.

In life you have to act a certain way to make choices. I took a risk into coming to USF and I'm glad I'm here because I'm making a difference. I want to achieve and my long life ambition is to fulfill my dream. And if I have to act heartless, mean, cold, friendly, nice or etc I know I'm up for it because I care and I was born to do this task I want and need.

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

- John Lennon

Imagine if just for one day the world will turn into peace and harmony. Society today is full of hate, oppression and mistrust. No one feels safe because of the riots and cruelty and the WAR. The war has segregated the world because of one reason- power. Power, dominance and treachery in order to obtain something that is just its just a desire not a need. Why can the world just get along. The reason behind it is because people are afraid of change, they don't adapt to change because is frightens them. What's worse is people not accepting change. Change is good when there are hard times.

Imagine in a world that everyone is equal, no fear, no rejection just harmony and peace. Imagine just being able to express yourself without someone holding you back or sending you to jail. Imagine just accepting others and you accepting yourself. Imagine being different and society praises you. Imagine a world without war and danger just peace and harmony. How about a Utopia? That's the kind of place everyone would want to live in. Being able to breathe without the constant fear.

Come together as one. Join the fight for equality and peace. Let's all live under one sky in harmony. How hard is that? I hope one day you can accept other and learn to live in peace. If we all come to a consensus and value others maybe one day you will join us.

Summer Term is DONE!

This summer has been a world wind. College during the summer is the toughest. I am proud to say that I have achieved good grades for this summer. This summer term I had to take three classes that were longer than two hours. My classes are as follows: Public Speaking, Sexual Health Decision Making and Composition.

My older brother, Nardo, being a sophomore at USF, gave me advice and told me that Composition was going to be a challenge. My first week at college was smooth, I was just frustrated on how much work I was going to be doing. The thing about summer term is condensing 14 weeks into six weeks! Yikes! But I knew I could handle anything if I set my mind to it. I at first wondered why do people drop out of college? Then I realized, the amount of work some people just loose motivation. My motivation is being "professional" and making a living for myself.

The classes that I've taken have all been rigorous in their own way. In Sex class, the Monday quizzes and the long lectures in the morning- which sometimes would lead to me falling asleep. Public Speaking, dealing with the speeches each week and Composition with paper after paper and not one day of no homework. These classes were easy to balance and it taught me how to grow as a person and do the easy homework first and work my way up.

Overall, college has taught me to be more responsible. I've changed an grown by being more straightforward and being myself.I think college teaches everyone to become independent but once in a while its okay to call back parents and ask for money. College isn't hard people can make it hard if they don't manage their time right. I hope to make these next four years the best time of my life and become the woman I was destined to be.

Why are face transplants more controversial than liver transplants?

Beauty is everything in this world. I find it hypocritical when society says its all about the personality not looks. Looks are everything, that's what matters to some people. The fashion, music, entrepreneur world focuses on these elements. I am a person that looks for personality. I go by the phrase that "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder". My boyfriend has an illness and I forget to judge his outside just inside.

On November 27,2005 a French-woman named Isabelle Dinoire was the first person in the world to receive a partial face transplant. This was medical news because face transplants were considered impossible to do. Transplanting the nose and the chin are difficult because of the amount of tissue needed. Another face transplant was a Spaniard named Oscar he unlike Isabelle has all his chin, nose, and mouth transplant. This is an advancement in technology; however, to this new foreign transplant is controversial.

The conflict has raised both medical and ethical concerns, and with experts weighing in on all sides of the issue, the controversy is still far from resolved. The main debate questions whether the benefits of a face transplant outweigh the many risks associated with the procedure.Transplant rejection is one of the main risks associated with face transplants. According to the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery and the American Society for Plastic Surgeons’ Facial Transplantation Guiding Principles, “It is estimated that 10 percent of facial transplant recipients will experience an episode of rejection within the first year, with a thirty to fifty percent rate in the second to the fifth year.”

The other reason is that getting used to a new identity. According to Isabelle Dinoire she has to get used to her new face. Also stem cells are being used to grow new tissues and bones for face transplants. The face transplants are more controversial than legalizing marijuana. The face transplants are also highly resourceful and needs more tissues from the donor and expensive. The negative side is also the tissue rejection. Isabelle Dinoire, has to take for her rest of her life immmusuppressants in order for her antibodies not to attack the foreign tissue.

Liver transplants is not as rigorous to obtain but not as controversial because face transplants the donors are harder to find and its more expensive. Liver transplant at first were considered unethical but over the years it has been accepted. Face transplants are more difficult to accept because of the stem cells used to grow new tissues.I believe that if people want to pay for the risky surgery in order to make themselves happy- I say Go For it!! What Really Happened to Phoebe Prince?

Bullying is unacceptable, immoral, and unethical.Bullying can cause anyone constant chronic stress and low self-esteem. In the case of Phoebe Prince, bullying came to a new form which is cyber-bullying because it makes bullying more publicized. From reading this article I think that Phoebe bullies were mean girls that probably have parents that work for the school district.

Phoebe suicide probably produced a small chain reaction of grief and guilt throughout the school. In my previous blog I've stated that there are two types of evil in this world which are people who see evil acts and people who commit evil acts. In South Hadley High School, there is not consequences for bullying a student its only suspension. The high schools seems corrupted after the Phoebe death because no School Board administrator wants to discuss it. Bullying is worse committed act in schools that selling drugs in my opinion. I believe that anything that deals with a person's psyche is longer effecting than drugs. When a person has low self-esteem it leads to depression then chronic stress which turns into suicide. The human mind is the most powerful thing in the human body when its tempered with it can be deadly.

In Phoebe case, I get the sense of immigrating to a new country and adapting. According to the article, Phoebe had depression and her mother told the school of her problems. But as a former high school student, when a student has an illness or disability all of the teachers are aware of it and the staff members. I find it odd that none of Phoebe's teacher didn't do anything to help her out. A school is a community and within that community things are all seen and heard and for the faculty and staff to be aware of what's happening and not do anything about it is scary because you know a student is being injured and your not being a dutiful citizen.

In this case, the students that bullied Phoebe should be criminally prosecuted because its considered manslaughter. These teenagers would harass Phoebe physically and emotionally which led to her killing herself. It makes me wonder how these teenagers get away with deli quint acts in the school.

After reading this article the author does imply blame the victim, this is in which we as people judge the victim that its her fault. Phoebe wasn't at fault she was a bullied all the time and people made it sound that it was her depression that lead her to that. Bullying should be stopped when someone names call thats a sing of bullying. Bullying should be made illegal and have greater consequences. Suspensions are just vacations for the criminals. I'm glad a bill in New York has been passed to stop bullying this should be spread nationwide.

Why does the Truthfulness Matter?

“You can bend it and twist it... You can misuse and abuse it... But even God cannot change the Truth."

- Micheal Levy

The truth is the most important quality in a person. My upbringing was based on honesty, responsibility, integrity, and truth. The truth is how one perceives something.
Its our biased of the world. The truth hurts. In this world people don't like to acknowledge or accept the truth. The truth is the most powerful quality anyone could ever do or say. The truth describes who the person is and how the person acts.

I have always been known as a bitch. I take that as a compliment. I think people define me as this because I am very straight forward. I don't like when people act or say something wrong and I rather be honest and tell them their mistakes. I'm actually one of the fewest people in the world that like to be told the truth. I love it when a friend "calls me out" and explains the errors that I have committed. I think a true person would do anything to tell someone the mistakes they've committed in order to improve themselves.

I think honesty and truth matter- to me lot because lying builds up and leads to nothing. Lying or fibbing is not a good quality not even little lies. I think when someone lies it makes me feel guilt for the other person because they are being lied to and their vulnerable and are gullible and they believe the liars words.

Its said that life is unfair that nothing is easy. I believe that's true. In this world there is always going to be liars hurting everyone to achieve their way. Liars are part of this world but that way one learns to decipher who is honest and who isnt.

The truth is the beginning to a new chapter its a way to clean out the soul and heal the old wounds.

Does Teen Drug Rehab Cure Addiction or Create it?

Drugs. The word drugs has had a negative connotation for the last century. As I recall from watching in the Drug years of Marijuana in the History Channel, Marijuana is considered deadly. I am for Marijuana legalization. People believe that marijuana or pot is dangerous that its addiction and destroys brain cells; however, from my personal experience- all of my best friends smoke and they are geniuses- going to IV league schools. Many people have tried pot because it releases pain and its a relaxation.

Someone may oppose this article the majority of the audience would be families. Rehab has been shown by society that its for people who are weak and need help or else there going to die- which is true. But I think teen rehab is not a good choice to send addiction teenagers for help. I researched AA (Alcoholic Anonymous)the "12 steps". While browsing through this steps I feel this steps are overwhelming. When someone goes to rehab they have low self-esteem to point that could lead to suicide, and their couple of step is to admit your week. I find this 12 steps controversial.

My late uncle went to rehab because he was forced. The whole appeal of marijuana in the 1990's was not acceptance especially in a developing country. Marijuana was his "daily shower" without he couldn't do anything productive. From what I recall, his addiction -from a sic-year-old- it was like he was the same nothing changed. I know to this day, he relapsed and did smoke behind the whole family. He said that rehab changed his mind on how to live his life; for instance, have a family, be independent and have a good job. But he would occasionally smoke, but not that often. I don't think rehab is effective, family therapies and individual counseling are helpful.

Parents can have other options if their child is spiraling to drug addiction. I think confronting someone is the best way to go and family therapy. I also think it depends on the drug their using. If I ever have a child who gets Straight A's, honors, clubs, class president, athlete and smokes pot occasionally, I wouldn't have a problem. Its there stress reliever from all the commotion in the world. If parents do have a serious problem with it than they can send their child to Boot Camp to fix the behavioral problem but family therapy is better.

Peer pressure is the main reason behind teen therapy groups. Teenagers like to boast on what drugs they've used and show others the glamour behind drugs. Teen therapy groups create an urgency to try different drugs. That isn't effective. Family therapies are better because it makes the teenager realize that people care and not to feel "defeated".

My parents are very conservative and my older brother has followed into their footsteps, they are all scared of trying new things in other words open minded. I in the other hand, I'm very open minded- but I have limits. I don't condone extreme drug use or drinking. I like to be sober and have fun. Its not the end of the world if I don't smoke or drink.

People need to be careful who to surround with. My mom always tells me "Dime con quien tu andas y yo te dire quien eres". That means tell me who you hang out with and I will tell you who you are. If you hang out with potheads then you must be one- thats the way society and the media have brainwashed our minds to downside and fear drugs.s But there are drugs who are less harmful then drinking.

I don't know how to put in words....

" The Dice of God are always loaded" - Emerson

Emerson. I have no idea who he is but I'm sure he was a world re noun author. When I think of God, I think wrath, happiness, apprehension and forgiveness. In the earlier edition of the Bible God banished Adam and Eve for being sinners and flooded the Earth for 40 days/nights. Now as centuries progressed, and the conquistadors came to the New World, religion was not a chore it was a way of living... Centuries pass and people worship still because of their beliefs. I think religion is the only excuse we have for war.. I think if everyone did believe in God we would be all good.. But there are different types of religion.

In the Hindu religion they believe in Karma. Karma is the effects of a person's actions that determine his destiny in his next incarnation. I'm a believer of Karma although, I'm not an active Roman Catholic.Ever since I could speak, my family would tell me "Life is Always UNFAIR". Its true. Life gives everyone situations that one never expects to be in.

This quote of Emerson, I can relate too. He means that God has always a dice. Now a dice, its a symbol of luck- either good or bad. God according to Emerson is always ready to give anyone either luck in their life or horrible events.I've been in situations where everything seemed picture perfect until tragedy arises.

I believe that as soon as we are born are destinies are already chosen. Most people believe that you create your own destiny I disagree. Our destiny is already chosen by God and since he has the "dice loaded" sometimes God gives us good destinies or bad ones. Because that is what he decided. You cant runaway from what you are. Just be prepared for the better or the worst.

A Fat tax?!!

Since I am from Peru, a poor country, an abundance of food is better than Christmas gift. I grew up in Peru in an upper class, I was fortunate enough to have enough food to stay alive. Sometimes when I see the "Christian World Hunger Fund" I reminisce on the rural areas of Peru and witness malnourished children not even five begging for food while the upper class feasted. I remember when my great-grandmother came to Florida to visit she looked at me and my brother and say you guys are too fat. Now being a girl I was offended at first and went to my mother to tell her what grandma bluntness was about.

My mom said that in any developing country the ones who are skinny are malnourished and can't afford food, the ones who are big and voluptuous are wealthy and have money to eat. Now being in America being overweight is a negative image. Sine I've moved here, the American lifestyle is all about "who cares?" I disagree, one might say they care what other people think but they do in the inside care.

With this said, the fat tax should be imposed. Well come on think about it? The number of people who stopped smoking from the 1980's has decreased with all those public health advertisement and the heavy tax on cigarettes. Cigarettes took a while for people to realize it was an endangerment to health.

Society needs a wake up call. The only way society is going to stop eating junk foods is for them going broke. I heard that in New Zealand in order to move in to the country one must not be overweight- meaning a specific weight size. Although that sounds like it is violating human rights, it inst because its a way for an imperfect gene pool to be in the whole pool. Now that might sound harsh, but I wouldn't like to be surrounded by fatties all the time, cause then I will feel the pressure to become fat. In Africa in Sudan they make young girls fat... Now this is due to cultural reasons. Parents send their daughters to a fat camp not for them to loose weight but to gain more than 100 pounds, its in their culture that men admire bigger women.

Don't get me wrong, women who have curves is great! But there is a limit to everything. I like to fatty food every now and then but my result of eating that is massive acne. That's my way of having self control. If the government does impose Fat tax, it would give America as a whole what to eat better and be conscious. I think the first step is for the wallet to be going broke and then its a wake up call.

America needs to get that fat tax- eat what you want just be conscious of what one is doing. One can do whatever they like however the consequences can be deadly. I'm glad that I have enough food to keep me alive. I eat because I want to live, I don't live to eat.

From where does a sense of community come?

In biological terms, a community is a group of interacting organism or species sharing an environment. As a science student, community has different levels of interaction. But what does that mean, you ask? I define this by asking what makes up a community and its levels?

A Community has to interact. How? Well there are the neighbors, town-hall meetings and being a volunteer. Now all though these qualities make a community. The question is when does a community come together? Majority would think of a tragedy or an accident or a concern.

I believe a community comes together when there is a need too. September 11th was a devastation and it made America look weak at the knees. The powerful country has been defeated- some thoughts however. Little by little people united of all races and begin to contribute to support the victims of that tragedy. Since 9/11 people have become less trustworthy of other due to the fear of terrorism. Everyone is paranoid of another possible attack- but the question still remains where does community form?

To be honest, community only comes when people need it. Its insulting to say it but true. The massacre of the student in Columbine was horrifying but it made the town come together however watchful of others. Isn't America insecure in a way? To me its always someone suing someone- for inconsiderate reasons.

The only way a community can come is to be one before any tragedy comes about. That's the only time you hear the community "come together" but I didn't include the Holidays. I think a community is just people interacting with each other everyday; for example, sally waving to her neighbor. Community could be close however underneath that trust there is alway idiots who screw it up.

Communities are hard to build and stay on top. However community reunites together when there is hope and need of acceptance. We've all made mistakes, but once a community is broken the mistake will be luring.

Health Ills Abound as Farm Runoff Fouls Wells

I would like to start of saying, "Isn't Wisconsin land of the cheese?" But apparently its land of POOP!! Its grotesque how ignorance is a common trait in Brown county. The United States has had controversial environmental policies and actions since the early 1970's. Those who are not familiar with Love Canal: toxic waste was buried underneath a whole town hence radiation and Environmental policies.

This article doesn't surprise me how agriculture is the main source behind pollution. Since Wisconsin has a lot of lobbyist in Washington, their environmental policies are more lenient. Florida has had several pollution scandals- the excess phosphorus levels in the Everglades. Florida became a leader and started slowly restoring the Everglades. In Wisconsin case, once the water table is contaminated its more expensive and difficult to return it back to normal.

The only solution to the excess manure would be to have certain cows per acre. Let's say there is 100 acres and 500 cows that equals more than 100,000 pounds of manure. That much manure could seep into the earth and slowly travel to wells. Another alternative would be for each farm to be measure regulatory on its level of toxicity based on runoffs- this is a common method practiced in Florida Agriculture.

Anyone could take action. But the only person who could lead the change would be the ordinary farmer or an ill victim. I think the whole county is being corrupted by the head farmer. I believe there is two types of evil in this world: 1) People who do evil stuff 2) People who witness evil acts. Brown county is witnessing corruption and atrocious crimes. Wouldn't all the citizens have common sense to file a law suit against the state and reinforce the Clear Water Act?

I don't favor the government. I don't like either party. I think the government knows everything about us- government conspiracy. Ever since the Cuban Missile Crisis, Nixon impeachment and Vietnam I don't believe in any politicians promises or act of kindness. Brown county officials are corrupted and not taken action to aid its fellow citizens. The Wisconsin local Environmental Protection Agency should be handling the manure seriously because it could slowly turn into a pandemic. Just think about it? Wisconsin is the number one state that produces dairy products- manure is not only disposed improperly but also used a fertilized but excess fertilizer.... Wouldn't the cow digest the grains that contain the same manure they made? :-/ Its the same cycle repeating, next the cows will start dying because of toxic levels.

The lobbying groups in Washington aren't being effective. Lobbyist main goal is to support and aid the average citizen not help pass less regulatory water laws. I think the whole county is corrupted. The farmers and citizens main responsibility is to act now or else its going to damaging later on. If anyone has seen Eric Brokavich? That is my logic behind it. Everyone in that town has rights. I believe the farmers are abusing human rights by letting their cows contaminate children and the elderly. It horrid how people to this day believe that a little toxic is no big deal. But it is BIG DEAL!!!

Homework Time

I dislike doing homework but it's going to be good at the end.
